  • Plastic and/or pediatric surgeons were surveyed regarding their preferred STSG donor site dressings and change frequency.
  • Data were collected from 26 participating surgical centers across France.
  • Main Results:

    • Alginate dressings (Algostéril®) are the most frequently used (17/26 centers), with 13/17 leaving them in place until complete healing.
    • Other reported dressings include paraffin gauze, lipidocolloides, Mepitel®, and Mepilex®.
    • No significant differences in dressing choice were observed between skin and scalp donor sites, or between adult and pediatric departments.

    Conclusions:

    • Alginate dressings are favored due to ease of use, reduced manipulation (less pain), and moderate cost.
    • The lack of consensus highlights challenges practitioners face in selecting optimal STSG donor site dressings.
    • Further analysis of literature and clinical practice is needed to establish best therapeutic options for STSG donor sites.
