Adolescent smoking cessation methods: a review article.

Summary

Adolescent smoking remains a concern in West Virginia, despite declining rates. This review examines tobacco smoking cessation programs for youth to identify effective interventions.

Background:

Adolescent smoking in West Virginia is a significant public health issue.
Approximately 9% of middle school and 22% of high school students in West Virginia smoke cigarettes.
Despite a declining trend, adolescent smoking rates remain a serious concern.

Purpose of the Study:

To review existing literature and research on tobacco smoking cessation programs tailored for adolescents.
To identify and evaluate studies focused on adolescent tobacco cessation published within the last decade.

Main Methods:

Literature search conducted using PubMed, Cochrane Database, and official websites of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources (WVDHHR).
Focused on studies published over the past ten years to capture recent data and trends.
