Aberrant pancreatic ductal organisation: a case report

• A rare case involving two accessory ventral pancreatic ducts is presented.
• These ducts were observed opening separately into the common bile duct, proximal to the hepato-pancreatic ampulla.
• An ectopic major duodenal papilla was noted 3.8 cm distal to the pyloric sphincter.

Findings:

• The case exhibited two accessory ventral pancreatic ducts opening independently into the common bile duct.
• An ectopic major duodenal papilla was present, distinct from the typical location.
• Absence of the accessory pancreatic duct and minor duodenal papilla was also noted.

Implications:

• Awareness of rare pancreaticobiliary anomalies aids in accurate diagnosis and effective patient management.
• Understanding embryological origins can explain these morphological variants.
