Background:

Pancreatic pseudocysts (PP) are a common complication of pancreatitis.
Surgical options for PP include anterior or posterior cystogastrostomy, endoscopy-assisted surgery, and cystojejunostomy.

Purpose of the Study:

To prospectively analyze the merits and demerits of laparoscopic cystogastrostomy for pancreatic pseudocyst drainage.
To evaluate the safety, feasibility, and efficacy of this minimally invasive procedure.

Main Methods:

Prospective analysis of 12 patients undergoing transgastric anterior laparoscopic cystogastrostomy.
Standardized procedure with a 4.5 cm stoma size.
Assessment of intraoperative and postoperative outcomes, pain scores (VAS), hospital stay, and follow-up imaging (CT).

Main Results:

No intraoperative or postoperative bleeding or leakage.
Average postoperative pain score of 4 (2-5) on the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS).
Average hospital stay of 4.1 ± 2.3 days.
Complete resolution of symptoms in all patients.
Complete resolution of cysts in 8 out of 8 patients on follow-up CT scans.

Conclusions:

Laparoscopic cystogastrostomy is a safe and feasible surgical option for pancreatic pseudocyst management.
The procedure provides efficient drainage, leading to complete symptom resolution and cyst reduction.
Minimally invasive approach offers significant benefits for patients with pancreatic pseudocysts.
