  • To evaluate the effectiveness of targeted education in improving nurse performance of mobility interventions.

  • A pretest-posttest design was used to evaluate 41 nurses.
  • Chart reviews were conducted pre- and post-intervention to measure changes in knowledge and mobilization.
  • The study focused on changes in nurses' knowledge and patient mobilization outcomes.

Main Results:

  • Nurses demonstrated significantly higher knowledge scores post-education (P < .001).
  • Significant increases in overall patient mobilization (P = .04) and dangling (P = .01) were observed.
  • No significant improvements were noted in ambulating patients or assisting them to a chair.

Conclusions:

  • Mobilization education effectively enhanced nurses' understanding of benefits for critically ill patients.
  • The educational intervention positively influenced nurses' performance of mobility interventions.
  • While education improved patient mobility, leadership and coaching remain crucial for sustained implementation.
