Prophylactic Use of Nebulized Hypertonic Saline in Mechanically Ventilated Children: A Randomized Blinded Pilot Study

Nebulized hypertonic saline did not shorten mechanical ventilation duration in children. This mucolytic agent did not improve airway clearance or reduce ventilation time, with wheezing occurring rarely.
