Summary

This study investigated how previous wins influence current decision-making using event-related potentials (ERPs). Findings reveal that prior feedback significantly impacts neural activity related to outcome expectancy and response strategies in a gambling task.

Background:

Decision-making involves evaluating potential rewards and risks.
Outcome expectancy, the anticipation of rewards or losses, influences subsequent choices.
Event-related potentials (ERPs) provide a temporal measure of neural processing during cognitive tasks.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the influence of preceding feedback on neural activity related to current decision outcomes.
To analyze how outcome expectancy is modulated by previous feedback, decision type, and response patterns.
To examine the neural correlates of outcome expectancy and its relationship with the Feedback-related Negativity (FRN).

Main Methods:

Participants performed a gambling task with risky and safe options, receiving randomized win/loss feedback.
Event-related potentials (ERPs) were recorded time-locked to decision outcomes.
