Background:

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a major respiratory illness.
Interstitial Lung Abnormality (ILA) is increasingly recognized on imaging.
The relationship between COPD and ILA, particularly fibrotic changes, needs clarification.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the association between COPD and ILA.
To determine if CT-detected lung fibrosis is linked to COPD.
To explore the prevalence and characteristics of ILA in COPD patients.

Main Methods:

COPD cases were identified from lung cancer screening participants and clinical cohorts.
A case-control study matched COPD cases with controls based on age, sex, and smoking history.
