Background:
- Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) enables simultaneous visualization of multiple compounds on a sample surface.
- Current tools lack the capability to visualize complex biological indices, such as energy charge index, derived from MSI data.
Purpose of the Study:
- To present MSIdV, a novel visualization tool for biological indices calculated from mass spectrometry imaging data.
- To provide a solution for accurately processing, calculating, and visualizing user-defined index measures from MSI data.
Main Methods:
- MSIdV is implemented in Python 2.7.
- The tool features signal processing capabilities for scanning mass spectra.
- It allows for the accurate calculation and visualization of user-defined biological indices.
Main Results:
- MSIdV effectively scans mass spectra to process and calculate biological indices.
- The tool provides accurate visualization of user-defined index measures.
- It addresses the limitations of existing tools in visualizing biological indices from MSI.
Conclusions:
- MSIdV offers a valuable solution for researchers working with mass spectrometry imaging data.
- The tool enhances the ability to visualize and interpret complex biological information from MSI.
- MSIdV facilitates a deeper understanding of molecular distributions and biological indices.
