Summary

Actinic granuloma, a rare skin condition, presents as elastolytic granulomas on sun-exposed skin. This case highlights its presentation and the need for differential diagnosis in the Indian population.

Background:

Actinic granuloma is a rare, chronic, self-limiting skin disorder characterized by elastolytic granulomas.
Its pathogenesis remains largely unknown, primarily affecting sun-exposed skin.

Observation:

A case study of a middle-aged woman presenting with multiple annular erythematous lesions is described.
The patient also exhibited associated dyslipidemia and hypothyroidism.

Findings:

Histopathology confirmed degenerated elastic fibers with histiocyte aggregates and giant cells, indicative of elastolytic granulomas.
Actinic granuloma is noted to be infrequent in the Indian demographic.

Implications:

Accurate differentiation from conditions such as sarcoidosis and granuloma annulare is crucial for effective management.
