Intravitreal dexamethasone implant improved vision and reduced macular swelling in retinitis pigmentosa patients with cystoid macular edema. Some patients developed cataracts, but the treatment effect was durable with repeat injections.

- Pseudophakic eyes, steroid nonresponsive eyes, those with large initial CMT, and profuse leakage benefited most.
- The treatment effect was durable with repeat injections, despite potential side effects like cataracts.
