Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effects of WR, equivalent to 12% body mass (BM), on power clean and countermovement jump (CMJ) performance.
  • To compare WR training outcomes against traditional resistance training methods.

Main Methods:

  • Sixteen male subjects were divided into traditional (TR) power clean training or WR training groups for five weeks.
  • Measurements included pre/post CMJ height, power clean 1RM, ground reaction force, power output (PO), and bar path kinematics at 50%, 70%, and 90% of 1RM.

Main Results:

  • WR training significantly increased CMJ height (8.7%) and 1RM power clean (4.2%) versus TR.
  • Power output (PO) increased across all tested loads with WR training (ES=0.33-0.62).
  • Barbell velocity at 90% 1RM improved significantly with WR training (3.5%) compared to TR.

Conclusions:

  • Power clean training with 12% body mass wearable resistance positively impacts power clean ability and CMJ performance.
  • WR training enhances explosive power output and refines technique factors in the power clean movement.
