Summary
The T One File Gold rotary system significantly reduced root canal preparation time compared to Endostar E5 and E3 systems. No significant differences in procedural errors were observed among the three systems for inexperienced dentists.
Area of Science:
- Endodontics
- Dental Materials Science
Background:
- Root canal preparation is a critical step in endodontic treatment.
- Rotary instrumentation systems aim to improve efficiency and safety.
- Evaluating new systems is essential for clinical practice.
Purpose of the Study:
- To compare the preparation time and incidence of canal aberrations using three different rotary systems: Endostar E5, Endostar E3, and T One File Gold.
- To assess the performance of these systems in simulated root canals by dentists without prior rotary instrumentation experience.
Main Methods:
- Ninety endodontic training blocks were divided into three groups (n=30 each).
- Dentists without prior rotary experience prepared blocks using Endostar E5, Endostar E3, or T One File Gold.
- Preparation time was recorded, and canal aberrations (ledge, instrument fracture) were analyzed post-procedure using a stereomicroscope.
Main Results:
- The T One File Gold system demonstrated significantly shorter preparation times compared to Endostar E5 and Endostar E3 (p < 0.05).
- No statistically significant differences in the type or number of procedural errors were found among the three systems when used by inexperienced operators.
Conclusions:
- All tested rotary systems showed similar rates of canal aberrations in simulated root canals among novice users.
- Single-file systems, like T One File Gold, offer a significant advantage in reducing root canal preparation time.
