Volume-targeted ventilation (VTV) reduces death or bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in newborns compared to pressure-limited ventilation (PLV). VTV also lowers pneumothorax and intraventricular hemorrhage rates, though mortality shows no significant difference.
