Abstract:
A phonetic and relaxation method combined with teleoradiography was used to measure the interocclusal interval in five subjects. The action potential of the left and right masseter muscles were derived while the subject was drinking liquid. After fitting each subject with a Shore bite path plate which reduced the interocclusal interval to 0 mm, the same experimental procedure was carried out. No significant differenced could be established using a unidirectional lead with pseudointegration. In spite of the extremely small sample, the results tend to indicate that resting suspension changes corresponding to the vertical dimension.
