Primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of the kidney is rare, as neuroendocrine cells are absent in kidney tissue. This case report highlights a carcinoid tumor in a patient with a horseshoe kidney anomaly.
Area of Science:
- Urology
- Oncology
- Pathology
Background:
- Primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of the kidney is an exceptionally rare condition.
- Neuroendocrine cells are not typically found within the kidney parenchyma, making this diagnosis uncommon.
- Distinguishing these tumors from other renal masses based on clinical and radiological findings is challenging.
