Inflammatory and apoptotic signalling pathways and concussion severity: a genetic association study

Genetic variants in interleukin-1 beta (IL-1B) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) are linked to increased concussion symptom severity and duration in rugby players. These findings suggest a role for neuroinflammation in concussion outcomes.
