Summary

Beta-2 adrenoceptor responsiveness is reduced in patients with exercise-induced asthma (EIA), but not in non-EIA asthmatics. This impairment was observed both in vivo and in vitro, potentially explaining research discrepancies regarding beta-adrenoceptor function in asthma.
