Social isolation, measured by restricted Life-Space mobility, significantly increases the risk of severe exacerbations in COPD patients. This finding highlights the importance of assessing life space in managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

- Reduced Life-Space mobility is strongly associated with diminished exercise tolerance, increased dyspnea, poorer quality of life, and heightened depressive symptoms in COPD.
- The Life Space Assessment (LSA) offers a valuable tool for identifying social isolation and its impact on clinical outcomes in COPD management.
