Comparing endovenous laser coagulation methods for great saphenous vein treatment, simultaneous thermoablation with echosclerobliteration showed superior results. This combined approach enables effective vein obliteration using lower laser energy.
Area of Science:
- Vascular Surgery
- Minimally Invasive Procedures
- Phlebology
Background:
- Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) affects a significant portion of the population.
- Endovenous laser coagulation (EVLC) is a common treatment for CVI.
- Optimizing EVLC techniques is crucial for improving patient outcomes.
Purpose of the Study:
- To compare the effectiveness of different endovenous laser coagulation methods for the great saphenous vein.
- To identify the optimal treatment strategy for chronic venous insufficiency.
- To evaluate combined thermoablation and echosclerobliteration techniques.
Main Methods:
- Retrospective analysis of 318 clinical cases.
- Comparison of bare-tip fiber, radial fiber, and simultaneous thermoablation with echosclerobliteration for great saphenous vein occlusion.
- Assessment of vein occlusion rates and treatment effectiveness.
Main Results:
- Simultaneous thermoablation and echosclerobliteration demonstrated superior great saphenous vein occlusion compared to bare-tip thermoablation.
- Results from simultaneous thermoablation and echosclerobliteration were comparable to radial thermoablation.
- Combining methods for subcutaneous vein occlusion allowed for effective vein obliteration with lower energy settings in bare-tip EVLC.
Conclusions:
- Simultaneous thermoablation and echosclerobliteration is an effective method for treating great saphenous vein insufficiency.
- Lower-energy bare-tip EVLC can achieve comparable results to radial thermoablation when combined with other occlusion methods.
- Optimized combined approaches enhance EVLC effectiveness for CVI treatment.
