[Radionuclide and ultrasound studies in nodular (colloid) goiter]
Abstract:
The informative value of scintigraphy and ultrasonic investigation (USI) was analyzed in 110 patients with nodular colloid goiter. The patients were operated upon, and diagnosis was made on the basis of histological findings. Scintigraphy was more preferable for the assessment of atypical position of the thyroid and function of its different parts but USI was better for the detection of its nodular, diffuse and other structural changes. Both methods contained no specific information pertaining to histology.
