[COMPLEX IMMUNOGLOBULIN PREPARATION FOR THERAPY OF PERTUSSIS IN YOUNG CHILDREN]
Insights
Complex immunoglobulin preparation (CIP) effectively treats pertussis in young children by modulating the immune response. This oral therapy shows significant clinical benefits for pertussis infection.
Area of Science:
- Pediatrics
- Immunology
- Infectious Diseases
Background:
- Pertussis infection poses a significant risk to young children.
- Current therapeutic options for pertussis may have limitations.
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate the efficacy of complex immunoglobulin preparation (CIP) in treating pertussis in children under 3 years old.
- To evaluate the immune-modulating effects of CIP on the humoral immune response to pertussis.
Main Methods:
- A study involving two groups of children under 3 years old diagnosed with pertussis.
- The main group (50 children) received oral CIP for 5 days, while the comparison group (34 children) received standard therapy.
- Clinical effectiveness was assessed, alongside measurements of anti-pertussis IgG antibodies and total IgE levels.
Main Results:
- CIP demonstrated good clinical effectiveness in treating pertussis.
- The preparation exhibited immune-modulating activity, influencing the humoral immune response to pertussis infection.
Conclusions:
- Oral CIP shows promise as a novel therapeutic approach for pertussis in young children.
- The positive effects observed suggest a new application for this per-oral drug formulation in managing pertussis.
Aim:
Study the possibility of inclusion of complex immunoglobulin preparation (CIP) pos- sessing specific activity against pertussis exotoxins into complex therapy of pertussis infection in young children.
Materials And Methods:
-2 groups of children with.pertussis younger than 3 years were examined. The main group (50 individuals) received CIPper os - 1 dose 1 - 2 times per day for 5 days, comparison group (34 children) received only basic therapy. Evaluation of clinical effectiveness of CIP was carried out, the content of anti-pertussis class G antibodies and total IgE in patients were studied.
Results:
A good clinical effectiveness of the preparation was shown, as well as immune modulating activity against humoral immune response to pertussis infection.
Conclusion:
The detected positive effect of CIP on pertussis -course in children has indicated a principally novel use of this per oral drug form.
