Retrosternal Ectopic Thyroid Mimicking Esophagus in Tc-99m Pertechnetate Thyroid Scan

This study presents a case of thyrotoxicosis where abnormal pertechnetate distribution mimicked esophageal uptake. Enhanced SPECT imaging revealed hyperfunctioning retrosternal ectopic thyroid tissue, usually undetected on standard scans.
