Surgical management of tumor-related limb fractures
1Orthopädie am Rosenberg, St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Abstract:
Tumor-related fractures require internal rigid fixation with adapted surgical techniques in accordance with the altered bone quality. Internal fixation results in relief of pain and restoration of function, i.e., in walking capacity in the case of leg fractures and manual action in the case of arm fractures. Restoration of pain-free function in the case of tumor-related fractures is therefore an important part of the treatment of tumor patients.
