Background:

Nursing research is crucial for advancing healthcare.
Identifying research priorities ensures relevant and impactful studies.

Purpose of the Study:

To analyze nursing research using the CINAHL database.
To identify future research priorities in the nursing profession.

Main Methods:

A scoping literature review was performed.
Searched CINAHL Plus Full Text (2012-2018).
Included 91 publications after critical appraisal and thematic analysis.

Main Results:

Need for development and evaluation of nursing theories.
Emphasis on randomized controlled trials, meta-synthesis, and intervention studies.
Further research on nursing competencies and diverse practice areas is recommended.

Conclusions:

Nursing research requires a stronger focus on theoretical development and rigorous study designs.
Prioritizing research in specific areas will enhance the nursing profession's impact and effectiveness.
