PncStress: a manually curated database of experimentally validated stress-responsive non-coding RNAs in plants
1Department of Bioinformatics, State Key Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, College of Life Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310058, China.
A new database, PncStress, now archives experimentally validated plant stress-responsive non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), including microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and circular RNAs, aiding plant stress research.
Area of Science:
- Plant biology
- Molecular biology
- Bioinformatics
Background:
- Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are crucial regulators in biological processes.
- ncRNA mechanisms are increasingly recognized for their role in plant stress responses.
- Existing data on plant stress-responsive ncRNAs are fragmented across various sources.
Purpose of the Study:
- To establish a centralized, manually curated database of experimentally validated plant stress-responsive ncRNAs.
- To provide a comprehensive resource for researchers studying plant responses to biotic and abiotic stresses.
- To facilitate the discovery and understanding of ncRNA functions in plant stress adaptation.
Main Methods:
- Systematic curation of experimentally validated stress-responsive ncRNAs from scientific literature.
- Inclusion of microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and circular RNAs.
- Data organization including biological information and network visualization.
Main Results:
- The PncStress database contains 4227 entries.
- Data covers 114 plant species.
- Includes 48 biotic and 91 abiotic stress conditions.
Conclusions:
- PncStress serves as a valuable, manually curated resource for plant stress response research.
- The database enhances accessibility to experimentally validated ncRNA data.
- Facilitates future investigations into ncRNA-mediated plant stress adaptation.
