Integrated Healthcare System01:20

Integrated Healthcare System

2.1K
An integrated healthcare system (IHS) is a set of organizations that provides for or arranges to provide coordinated and continuous service to a defined population. The IHS takes responsibility for that particular population's health status and outcome, both clinically and fiscally. An integrated healthcare system is a well-organized, well-coordinated, and collaborative network. The integrated delivery system is a network that connects different healthcare providers to deliver organized,...

Immunodeficiency Diseases01:25

Immunodeficiency Diseases

1.8K
Immunodeficiency disorders are conditions in which the immune system's ability to fight infectious disease and cancer is compromised or entirely absent. The immune system comprises a complex network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect the body from potentially harmful invaders. When this system is deficient or not functioning properly, it leaves the body susceptible to infections, diseases, or other complications.
There are three main causes of immunodeficiency...

Methods Of Healthcare Delivery System

3.8K
At the different levels of the healthcare system, we see varying methods of healthcare used. These methods include managed care systems, case management, and primary healthcare.
Managed Care System:
The managed care system is designed to control the cost while maintaining the quality of care. The patient's care from admission to discharge is planned by the primary care provider or the case manager, also known as the gatekeeper. In a managed care system, the number of care providers is...

Area of Science:

  • Public Health
  • Health Informatics
  • Immunization Systems

Background:

  • The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) develops US immunization schedules.
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) developed clinical decision support for immunization (CDSi) resources to translate ACIP recommendations.
  • CDSi resources are continuously updated and will support COVID-19 vaccine implementation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess awareness of CDSi resources.
  • To determine the utilization of CDSi resources by immunization information systems (IIS).
  • To evaluate the perceived impact of CDSi resources on stakeholders.

Main Methods:

  • Online surveys with qualitative and quantitative questions were conducted from 2015 to 2019.
  • Participants included contacts from CDC-funded IIS awardees, IIS vendors, and electronic health record vendors.

Main Results:

  • Awareness of CDSi resources increased from 75% in 2015 to 100% in 2019.
  • Use of CDSi resources rose from 47% in 2015 to 78% in 2019.
  • Over 80% of CDSi users reported high satisfaction and a positive impact on their work.

Conclusions:

  • Increased awareness and use of CDSi resources correlate with improved timely patient immunizations.
  • Efficient integration of vaccine recommendations into health information systems is crucial for vaccine rollout, especially for COVID-19.
