Crosswalk EQ-5D-5L Value Set for Slovenia

1Institute for Economic Research, Kardeljeva ploščad 17, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia.
An interim EQ-5D-5L value set for Slovenia was estimated using crosswalk methodology. This provides interim health state values until a Slovenian EQ-5D-5L value set is directly derived.
Area of Science:
- Health Economics
- Psychometrics
- Quality of Life Research
Background:
- The EQ-5D-5L instrument is widely used in Slovenia, but a specific value set is lacking.
- Existing EQ-5D-3L value sets limit the accurate valuation of health profiles.
- This necessitates the development of an interim EQ-5D-5L value set for Slovenia.
Purpose of the Study:
- To estimate an interim EQ-5D-5L value set for Slovenia using the crosswalk methodology.
- To compare the interim EQ-5D-5L values with the existing Slovenian EQ-5D-3L values.
Main Methods:
- Applied the EuroQol Group's crosswalk methodology to the Slovenian EQ-5D-3L TTO value set.
- Compared mean scores and distribution of values between EQ-5D-3L and the interim EQ-5D-5L values.
Main Results:
- The EQ-5D-5L version includes "slight" and "severe" health state levels, expanding the scale's range.
- The 5-level version results in fewer health states valued below 0 and above 0.8 compared to the 3-level version.
- Identified corresponding health states between EQ-5D-3L (22222) and EQ-5D-5L (33333).
Conclusions:
- The interim EQ-5D-5L value set, derived via crosswalk, is recommended for use in Slovenia.
- This interim set should be utilized until a value set is developed from direct Slovenian population preferences.
- This approach ensures continued use of EQ-5D-5L in Slovenia for health state valuation.
