Background:

Suprapubic catheterization (SPC) is a common temporary solution for acute urinary retention (AUR).
Potential complications include colon perforation, hematuria, and bladder spasms.

Observation:

A 52-year-old female patient with a urethral stricture requiring a cystofix presented with AUR.
A new SPC was inserted, but it looped and became entangled with the existing cystofix.

Findings:

Laparoscopic surgery was performed to remove the entangled cystofix and insert a new SPC.
This case highlights a rare but significant complication of SPC insertion.

Implications:

Careful technique during SPC insertion is crucial to prevent device entanglement.
Awareness of this potential complication can aid in its avoidance and prompt management.
