Primary optic nerve sheath schwannoma: a case report

• A case of a 29-year-old female with progressive proptosis due to an intraconal mass is presented.
• Surgical excision via left frontal craniotomy with orbitotomy was performed.
• Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of schwannoma.

• The tumor was well-encapsulated and attached to the optic nerve.
• Postoperative recovery was uneventful.
• Histopathology confirmed schwannoma.

Conclusions:

• Orbital optic nerve schwannoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of orbital masses.
• Despite rarity, accurate diagnosis and management are crucial.
