Summary

Colon cancer risk in Thailand is linked to age, socioeconomic status, and family history. While smoking and lack of exercise increase risk, obesity and alcohol do not, suggesting genetic factors are more influential.

  • A case-control study was conducted involving 504 newly diagnosed colon cancer patients and 997 healthy controls.
  • Data were collected from 11 Thai provincial hospitals between June 2016 and June 2017.

  • Age, socioeconomic factors, and family history of colon cancer were significantly associated with increased colon cancer risk.
