Background:

Nursing practice has increasingly emphasized evidence as its primary basis for the past 30 years.
The movement towards evidence-based practice (EBP) has become prominent in the field.

Purpose of the Study:

To critically examine the literature on evidence-based practice in nursing from the 1990s to the present.
To identify and analyze persistent concerns associated with the EBP movement in nursing.

Main Methods:

A comprehensive review of nursing literature published from the 1990s to the present.
Analysis of critical perspectives and concerns raised regarding evidence-based practice.

Main Results:

Despite the promotion of EBP, significant concerns persist regarding its alignment with nursing's disciplinary perspective.
Concerns include the privileging of empirical knowledge, underappreciation of practice wisdom, potential stifling of innovation, and limitations of empirical evidence.
