The number of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) scholarly publications significantly increased by 136% between 2012 and 2018. This growth in DNP-authored research enhances knowledge dissemination and contributes to improved health outcomes.

Background:

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) nurse is recognized as a practice scholar and leader.
There is a growing volume of published scholarship authored by DNP professionals.

Purpose of the Study:

To quantify and analyze peer-reviewed journal publications authored by DNP graduates.
To examine the trend of DNP-authored publications from 2012 to 2018.

Main Methods:

A descriptive analysis was conducted on DNP graduate publications.
Data were extracted from the WorldCat database for the period 2012-2018.

Main Results:

A total of 1903 DNP-authored peer-reviewed publications were identified.
DNP-authored publications saw a 136% increase from 2012 to 2018.
Over 60% of publications involved collaborative or interprofessional authorship.

Conclusions:

The study demonstrates a substantial rise in DNP-authored scholarly publications.
Increased DNP scholarship contributes to knowledge dissemination and the improvement of health outcomes.
DNP-authored publications offer a vital pathway for advancing healthcare nationally and globally.
