Molecular characterization of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium isolates from two German hospitals

Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE) infections are a growing concern. Molecular typing revealed broad genetic diversity among vanB-type VRE in Germany, with rare in-hospital transmissions but confirmed outbreaks.
