Abstract:
Elementary methods are used to analyse periodic bifurcations associated with discrete models of the reaction-diffusion type motivated by population genetics. In particular, the existence and stability of temporal bifurcations of periods 1, 2, and 3 are discussed. The study of the route to chaos due to diffusive effects is initiated.
