Endocarditis II: Clinical Features of Infective Endocarditis

79
Endocarditis can present various clinical features depending on the causative organism and the patient's underlying health conditions. Initially, the clinical features of infective endocarditis develop gradually, presenting with nonspecific symptoms that can be easily mistaken for other illnesses.General SymptomsEarly symptoms of infective endocarditis are fever, chills, weakness, malaise, fatigue, and weight loss. These symptoms reflect the systemic nature of the infection and the body's...

Gastritis-II: Pathophysiology

792
Gastritis is marked by disruption of the mucosal barrier that usually protects the stomach tissue from digestive juices and manifests in acute and chronic forms.
In acute gastritis, the gastric mucosa becomes swollen and red and undergoes superficial erosion. Superficial ulceration may lead to bleeding.
In chronic gastritis, persistent or repeated insults lead to chronic inflammatory changes and, eventually, thinning or atrophy of the gastric tissue.
Gastritis can stem from various causes, each...

Summary

This review summarizes acute neuro-Behçet's disease, a neurological condition affecting 10-20% of Behçet's disease patients. It focuses on central nervous system inflammation and treatment responses based on Japanese guidelines.

Area of Science:

  • Neurology
  • Immunology
  • Rheumatology

Background:

  • Neuro-Behçet's disease involves central nervous system inflammation in 10-20% of Behçet's disease cases.
  • It presents with neurological symptoms due to parenchymal inflammation.
  • Classified into acute and chronic progressive types based on clinical course and treatment.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To review and summarize the acute type of neuro-Behçet's disease.
  • To provide an overview aligned with the Japanese Behçet's Disease Research Committee guidelines.
  • To consolidate current understanding of acute neuro-Behçet's disease.

Main Methods:

  • Literature review of studies on neuro-Behçet's disease.
  • Analysis of clinical manifestations and therapeutic responsiveness.
