Correlations of size and mass of colorectal adenomas
Annals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore
|July 1, 1987
Abstract:
The widest diameters as well as widths and heights of 28 colorectal adenomas were measured from the fresh specimens and from their histological sections. These were correlated with their weights and volumes which represent mass. The correlation coefficients between fresh diameter and mass (weight) and section diameter and mass were similar (r = 0.87). The best correlation was between section area (width x height) and mass (r = 0.96). Therefore the accuracy of correlation could be improved simply by taking two measurements of a histological section and this has an added advantage of indicating shape.
