[Preverbal communication between young children]
1CRESAS: Centre de Recherche sur l'Education spécialisée et l'Adaptation scolaire, Paris, France.
Abstract:
This paper proposes a new look on young children. Results of studies realized in day care centers show that, before the acquisition of speech, toddlers are able to communicate not only with adults, but also with their peers. Some of their interactions during common activities seem play an important role for their cognitive development. These competences can develop only under certain conditions.
