Abstract:
The alkyl-2-cyanoacrylates have been used to repair tissues such as bone. The failure of bonding observed with the application of such adhesives is attributable to a variety of factors including the aqueous environment of the bond. A mathematical analysis of the contribution of the aqueous environment to bonding performance is elaborated. Mathematical modeling may accurately approximate experimental variables that contribute to the performance of biomaterials.
