Distinctive Clinical Correlates of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth with Methanogens

Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) can be caused by hydrogen-producing bacteria or methane-producing Archaea. Methanogenic SIBO is associated with fewer clinical conditions, notably less vitamin B12 deficiency, compared to hydrogenic SIBO.
