A Berger-linear Buildup Approximation for Air

Abstract:
A combination of the Berger and the linear buildup approximations with the assumption of conservation of energy was fitted for air. The values predicted by this Berger-linear buildup approximation were generally more accurate than those predicted by the Berger approximation alone. Although it is not as accurate as the geometric-progression approximation, the Berger-linear approximation is analytically simpler and makes it easier to find analytical solutions for point source kernel shielding calculations.
