Summary

Three cermet coatings (WC-Co-Cr, WC-Co, WC-Cr3C2-Ni) were applied to magnesium alloy AZ31 using High Velocity Oxy Fuel (HVOF) spraying. Analysis revealed compressive residual stresses and substrate-induced shear stress in the WC phase.
