Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate an e-mentoring program's impact on nursing inquiry.
  • To assess the enhancement of evidence-based practice beliefs (EBPB).
  • To measure improvements in evidence-based practice implementation (EBPI) and organizational culture and readiness for system-wide implementation of EBP (OCRSIEP).

Main Methods:

  • A pre-experimental, pretest-posttest pilot study design was employed.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) participated in a 12-week e-mentoring program.
  • Validated scales measured OCRSIEP, EBPB, and EBPI; Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test analyzed pre- and post-intervention scores.

Main Results:

  • Eleven APRNs completed the study.
  • Median EBPB scores increased significantly post-intervention (61 to 70).
  • Median EBPI scores rose from 13 to 20, and median OCRSIEP scores increased from 88 to 99.

Conclusions:

  • A 12-week Nurse Inquiry E-mentoring Program effectively improves EBPB.
  • Extended program duration may yield greater improvements in EBPI and OCRSIEP.
  • Technology-enabled e-mentoring offers a scalable solution to cultivate an EBP culture by mentoring more nurses.
