The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) surveyed members on structured radiology reporting. Findings support RANZCR developing guidelines for report quality and integration with digital health systems.
Area of Science:
- Radiology
- Digital Health
- Health Informatics
Background:
- The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) formed a working group to address structured radiology reporting.
- This initiative aligns with the broader digital healthcare transformation in the region.
Purpose of the Study:
- To survey RANZCR members and affiliated groups on current structured reporting practices.
- To understand member perspectives on the future evolution of structured radiology reporting.
Main Methods:
- Utilized questionnaires based on prior studies, distributed via Survey Monkey.
- Employed descriptive analysis for questionnaire responses.
Main Results:
- 114 member and 58 affiliated group responses were received.
- Strong support exists for RANZCR-developed guidelines on structured report quality.
- Members desire improved report content, clinical context tailoring, and RIS/PACS integration.
Conclusions:
- Phase 2 will focus on developing guidelines for structured report quality.
- Implementation processes for these guidelines will also be addressed by the RANZCR working group.

Introduction to Documentation and Reporting
Nursing documentation records essential information and details regarding a patient's care and treatment in written or electronic form. It is a critical aspect of nursing practice that involves documenting assessments, interventions, outcomes, and other relevant details about a patient's health status.
Documentation maps the patient's health journey by creating a comprehensive...

Types of Reports II: Incident or Occurrence Report
Purposes:
In the healthcare industry, reports play a crucial role in documenting incidents within an agency. The primary objective of these reports is to ensure patient safety, uphold the...

Radiological Investigation III: Pulmonary Angiogram and PET Scan
Pulmonary Angiogram
A Pulmonary Angiogram is an invasive procedure involving injecting a contrast medium through a catheter threaded into the pulmonary artery or the right side of the heart to visualize the pulmonary vasculature. Computed Tomography (CT) scans have mainly replaced this...
Radiological Investigation II: MRI and Ventilation Perfusion Scan
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Ventilation Perfusion Scans are two radiological investigations that offer detailed diagnostic images of the body, particularly lung structures.
MRI
MRI uses magnetic fields and radiofrequency signals to distinguish between normal and abnormal tissues. This technology provides a more detailed diagnostic image than CT scans, enabling it to characterize pulmonary nodules, stage bronchogenic carcinoma, and evaluate inflammatory activity in...
