Summary
Abdominoplasty can lead to seroma, a common complication. For rare chronic pseudocysts after this body contouring surgery, radical excision combined with specific techniques is recommended to prevent recurrence.
Area of Science:
- Plastic Surgery
- Aesthetic Body Contouring
- Surgical Complications
Background:
- Abdominoplasty is a popular aesthetic body contouring procedure.
- Seroma formation is the most frequent early complication.
- Chronic seroma and pseudocyst formation are rare but require surgical intervention.
Observation:
- This study presents a case of chronic pseudocyst formation following abdominoplasty.
- The pseudocyst necessitated surgical intervention.
Findings:
- Radical extirpation of the pseudocyst is crucial.
- A combination of quilting sutures, fibrin glue, and three weeks of suction drainage is effective.
- The use of compressive garments is also recommended.
Implications:
- This approach aims to prevent recurrence of pseudocysts after abdominoplasty.
- Effective management of rare but complex complications enhances patient outcomes.
- Highlights the importance of advanced surgical techniques in aesthetic procedures.
