Summary

Three new compounds and ten known compounds were isolated from Anoectochilus roxburghii. Kaempferol glycoside and rutin demonstrated significant antioxidant activity in DPPH radical scavenging assays.

  • To isolate and characterize new and known compounds from Anoectochilus roxburghii.
  • To evaluate the antioxidant potential of the isolated compounds.

  • Structure elucidation using High-Resolution Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy (1D and 2D).

Main Results:

  • Three new compounds, roxburic acid A (1), isorhamnetin-3-O-α-L-rhamnosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranose-(1→3)-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), and kaempferol-7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-D-glucopyranoside (3), were identified.
  • Ten known compounds (4-13) were also isolated and identified.
  • Kaempferol-7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-D-glucopyranoside (3) and rutin (11) exhibited antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 139 μg/mL and 22.5 μg/mL, respectively.

Conclusions:

  • The study successfully isolated and characterized novel and known compounds from Anoectochilus roxburghii.
  • Kaempferol glycoside and rutin show promising antioxidant properties, warranting further investigation for potential therapeutic applications.
