  • Team performance self-assessments became more accurate over five days (p<0.001).
  • Initially, teams overestimated their performance compared to faculty ratings, but this gap closed over time.
  • High-performing teams demonstrated significantly more accurate self-assessments for both teamwork and performance compared to low-performing teams.

Conclusions:

  • Repeated simulation practice enhances surgical teams' accuracy in judging their own performance.
  • The development of accurate self-assessment for teamwork competencies may require different training interventions.
