This study introduces a startup-based learning (SBL) model to foster entrepreneurship in pharmacy students. The SBL model effectively enhanced student creativity, satisfaction, and readiness for the job market.
Area of Science:
- Pharmaceutical Education
- Entrepreneurship Education
- Knowledge-Based Business Development
Background:
- Educational systems globally emphasize familiarizing students with knowledge-based businesses.
- Designing innovative learning models is crucial for preparing students for entrepreneurial roles.
Purpose of the Study:
- To design and evaluate a startup-based learning (SBL) model for pharmacy students.
- To enhance students' understanding of knowledge-based business development stages.
- To foster entrepreneurial skills and motivation among students.
Main Methods:
- A qualitative research approach was used with 120 pharmacy students at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences.
- The startup-based learning model incorporated lectures, simulations, and field activities.
- Student feedback was collected via a researcher-designed questionnaire to assess the model's effectiveness.
Main Results:
- Students rated the SBL model positively, with high satisfaction in areas like creativity, participation, and applicability.
- Key satisfaction indicators included learner participation (74.8%), teamwork (62.2%), and entrepreneurial motivation (60.7%).
- The model facilitated understanding of market needs, company registration, and product development.
Conclusions:
- The startup-based learning model is effective in enhancing student satisfaction, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit.
- The SBL model prepares students for the job market and increases interest in educational content.
- This study demonstrates the successful application of SBL in educational systems, highlighting the facilitator role of lecturers.
