Summary
Nursing students and educators show readiness for information technology in education. One campus demonstrates higher IT readiness than the other, impacting future e-learning integration.
Area of Science:
- Nursing Education
- Educational Technology
- Higher Education
Background:
- Information technology (IT), e-learning, and virtual learning are transforming higher education.
- Nursing education has adapted to these technological advancements in teaching and learning.
Purpose of the Study:
- To compare the readiness of nursing students and nurse educators to utilize information technology for teaching and learning.
- The study focused on two campuses within a North West public nursing college in South Africa.
Main Methods:
- A quantitative, comparative descriptive design was employed.
- Data were collected through online questionnaires from 285 participants (254 students, 31 educators).
- Statistical analysis utilized SPSS Version 27, including the Mann-Whitney U test.
Main Results:
- Both nursing students (77.9%) and nurse educators (83.9%) expressed agreement with information technology use readiness.
- The Ngaka Modiri Molema District (NMMD) campus showed significantly higher mean ranks for IT readiness variables compared to the Dr Kenneth Kauda District campus.
Conclusions:
- The NMMD campus is better prepared for information technology integration in teaching and learning than the Dr Kenneth Kauda District campus.
- Findings contribute to understanding technology adoption in nursing education.

Current Trends in Nursing II
1.4K
Trends in nursing are multifactorial and associated with changes in society, within the nursing profession, and in other professions. Notably, telehealth and remote nursing contribute to successful healthcare delivery for numerous patients and help reduce stress for nurses due to nursing shortages. Nurses can reach patients, monitor their conditions, and interact with them using computers, audio, visual accessories, and telephones—for example, remote patient monitoring systems. Likewise,...

Nursing Process for Patient and Caregiver Teaching II: Planning and Implementation
1.3K
Planning for learning involves the development of a teaching plan. Teaching plans are similar to nursing care plans—both follow the steps of the nursing process. Planning in the teaching process involves setting goals and outcomes. Here, goals identify what a patient needs to achieve to understand a healthcare topic better, whereas the outcomes are the action to be performed by the patient to achieve the goal within a timeframe. For example, if the goal is to educate the patient about...
