Summary

Primary intestinal lymphoma is rare in rabbits. This case series details four rabbit cases, identifying B-cell lineage and classifying them as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma or lymphoblastic lymphoma.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To describe the clinicopathologic features of primary intestinal lymphoma in rabbits.
  • To characterize the neoplastic lymphocytes and classify the lymphomas based on established criteria.

  • Retrospective review of four rabbit cases diagnosed with primary intestinal lymphoma.
  • Histopathological examination and immunohistochemical analysis (CD79a, CD3) of neoplastic lymphocytes.
  • Classification according to the Revised European-American Classification of Lymphoid Neoplasms/World Health Organization criteria.

Main Results:

  • Cases involved rabbits aged 5-9.5 years (average 7.8 years).
  • Neoplastic cells were large (8 µm) in three cases and intermediate (5 µm) in one case.

  • The condition can be classified using human lymphoma diagnostic criteria.
  • This research contributes to understanding rare rabbit neoplasms.
